It was 20 years ago Monday, July 26, that President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act into law. When he signed the monumental law, he borrowed a line from Ronald Reagan's Berlin Wall speech, saying, "Let the shameful walls of exclusion finally come tumbling down." The broad civil rights law was meant to make discrimination based on a person's disability illegal, much as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, and other personal characteristics.
The ADA is just one law to keep in mind when forming a business. The law made it so that employers and potential employers cannot discriminate against people with disabilities, and it also mandated more accessibility in the workplace. ...

Criminal Lawyer Racketeering
TALLAHASSEE, FL - Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) today announced the arrest of five individuals on various felony charges including racketeering, Medicaid fraud, money laundering, aggravated white collar crime, and operating a scheme to defraud. The arrests are the culmination of a joint investigation between the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, FDLE and the State Attorney’s Office for the Third Judicial Circuit into activities at the now closed Trinity Community Hospital and its affiliated clinics in Hamilton, Suwanee and Columbia counties. More arrests are pending.

Even people charged with enforcing Arizona's controversial new immigration law can't agree on the question of whether it's a good idea.The law, which will take effect Thursday barring a last-minute court injunction, requires police and sheriffs to check the status of anyone they have stopped or arrested for other violations, if they have reason to suspect the person might be in the country illegally.The Arizona Sheriffs' Association supports the law, saying it will give deputies needed tools to combat crimes associated with illegal immigration, such as human smuggling.
